I had the chance to take part in an FDA UV study under Dr. Beer's heading. I was surpised at the kind, pleasant working environment I found in the group, such, that I have never experienced anywhere else before. Soon it became obvious that the secret behind this was Dr. Beer's gentle, kind, and considerate personality coupled with his professional excellence, which combination evoked from everyone in the group a respect, kindness, and a desire to do their best. He was indeed uniquely gifted not only as a scientist, but as a gentle yet effective leader, as well. I miss him. Katalin Korossy, M.D.
