I will forever remember Janusz as a great friend and colleague at FDA. My special memory of Janusz is part in my obtaining my PhD. Janusz came to the then Bureau of Radiological Health around the same time I joined the Bureau in my early twenties as a full time employee and a graduate student. Janusz was a natural mentor, always guiding the way through example. When my PhD thesis defense came along, I was seven months pregnant. Janusz attended my defense, made sure I had plenty of fluids and sat with me during the committee deliberation. I will never forget his support throughout the whole process. I moved away from DC thirty years ago and through the years we have kept In touch mainly via family updates at Christmas time.
